about

I wrote this song in the thick of the Pandemic, when the days would bleed into weeks into months, with no discernible end in sight. Then I dressed it up in an "I screwed up and now you're gone" outfit. I had the great privilege of recording it with some heavy hitters that I've admired for years. Hope you dig it. -TW

lyrics

Friday
Limps into the weekend
With a broken heel
and a hand stamp from the deep end
Saturday
Yields its time to Sunday
Who blows it all on nothing much
Till it crashes into Monday

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Comes around again
And the wind blows and the fear grows
And the nervous tics begin
It goes on and on and round and round
‘Cause you went away and I’m
Just sitting here with nothing clear but
Tick tock tick time

April
May slide into June
July bleeds into August
Skipping stones across the moon
September
Always takes too long
October November
Two more verses in the same sad song

December disappears
In the shadow of January
Then the groundhog splits and gets away
With all the March that it can carry
It goes on and on and round and round
‘Cause you went away and I’m
Just sitting here with nothing clear but
Tick tock tick time

I just can't’ seem to find my groove
Or sleep or breathe or even move
On and on and round and round
‘Cause you went away and I’m
Just sitting here with nothing clear but
Tick tock tick time

about

Tod Weidner Ojai, California

One of those singer/songwriter types your mama warned you about, Tod Weidner has embarked upon a long awaited solo career after decades as a fixture on the Ohio music scene. Tod founded and led Dayton mainstays Shrug and was a member of Motel Beds and many other notable groups, to boot. He serves up songs with the ragged, passionate musical heart of a rocker and the wordsmithery of a Beat poet. ... more
